I designed my first light in London in 1984. Since then, the photon path has led me here.
It was a complicated light. I hadn’t quite learnt the less is more or less is a bore rules of design, so I approached it with a more is more philosophy and built the most complicated multi-functional light possible that went from an occasional lamp to an uplighter and downlighter all with the power of wood, metal and PVC tubes, and a stainless steel mixing bowl lamp shade; lots of glue and occasionally misunderstanding the laws of gravity and physics - I got an A+, for boldness or just giving it a go for the craic, so here we are now, still building half decent lights.
solas anseo has since simplified the lighting process, and has developed the only lamp shade with craic that let’s the light in. Built by hand, on the Inishowen Penisula in Co. Donegal, these hand tuned lighting solutions are giclée printed on 220 gsm paper, and are meant to be used with low voltage LED lighting.

The TiKi Photon Labs are an experimental space to innovate, we pride ourselves on upcycling things , bits and bobs, left over widgets and random yokes, and we are prepared to try and fail several times to get the desired moment when the magic happens.
Magic, like light, could be described as a slight of hand, the TiKi Photon Labs, have learnt from the best like ILM, La-La-Land, NASA; and also took inspiration from the seminal Imagination track “Just an Illusion” which played frequently in the Marinella Night Club, NÎmes, France in 1997.
As always, we’re actively building craic to let the light in.
